(\u201cHomerun\u201d or the \u201cCompany\u201d) (TSXV: HMR) (OTCQB: HMRFF) <\/strong>is pleased to announce that it has executed a binding Memorandum of Understanding (\u201c<strong>MoU<\/strong>\u201d) with Magnum Mining &amp; Exploration Limited (\u201c<strong>Magnum<\/strong>\u201d ASX: MGU, OTCQB: MGUFF),to jointly evaluate the application of Homerun\u2019s ultra-pure silica sand for the adsorption and chromatographic separation of rare earth elements (\u201c<strong>REE<\/strong>\u201d) samples supplied by Magnum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HIGHLIGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Homerun and Magnum will evaluate the use of Homerun\u2019s <strong>high-purity silica<\/strong> as potential column media for ion-exchange chromatography, as reported in scientific literature for REE separation.<sup>1,2<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The program of works to be undertaken will aim to determine whether Homerun\u2019s high-purity materials can be optimised for <strong>ion-exchange or chromatographic separation of REEs from ore samples sourced from Magnum\u2019s Brazilian REE projects.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If successful, the program has the potential to lead to <strong>a lower-footprint alternative to conventional solvent extraction for REEs<\/strong>, and in particular, Heavy REEs. Any new process know-how or IP generated during testing will be <strong>jointly owned <\/strong>by the parties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is envisaged that initial testing will be conducted at bench scale, with the possibility of further scalability through further <strong>modular pilot-scale additions<\/strong> if results are positive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recent peer-reviewed studies<sup>1,2<\/sup> report bench-scale continuous extraction chromatography on silica-based media achieving <strong>\u226599.9% purity for individual Heavy REEs <\/strong>using mineral-acid eluents, indicating potential process and <strong>environmental advantages versus conventional bulk solvent extraction<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The research initiative complements Magnum\u2019s focus to accelerate the development and commercialisation of its Brazilian REE projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Homerun and Magnum consider Brazil to be the <strong>ideal jurisdiction to develop ex-China REE ore and concentrate supply chains<\/strong>, given the abundance of REE prospects, established laboratory infrastructure and potential operating cost advantages.<br><br><a id=\"_ftn1\" href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0021967325001001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Chromatography, Volume 1745, 29 March 2025, \u201cEfficient extraction chromatography method for the separation of heavy rare earth elements from various sources.\u201d<\/a><br><a id=\"_ftn2\" href=\"#_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S1002072122001065\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Rare Earths, Volume 41, Issue 2, February 2023, \u201cResearch progress of rare earth separation methods and technologies\u201d.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Magnum\u2019s Chairman, Michael Davy, commented: <\/strong><em>\u201cWe are very pleased to be initiating this research collaboration partnership with Homerun. We look forward to driving innovation, lowering costs, and creating value for the stakeholders of both companies through this partnership.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DETAILS OF THE MOU<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Under the MoU the Parties will joint evaluate, the following<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The bench scale application of the HMR ultra-pure silica sand for adsorption and chromatographic separation of rare earth elements from MGU\u2019s REE projects in Brazil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subject to the success of the bench scale test, a pilot test of the jointly developed solution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eventual commercialisation of the jointly developed solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>All IP created during the testing phases will be jointly controlled by the Parties. If a Party determines that chromatographic separation of rare earth elements is not suitable to their materials supplied for the purpose of the testing, they may exit the MoU and the other Party will have the right to utilise the IP obtained to their benefit. The Parties shall develop budgets to jointly cover the costs incurred related to the testing phases. The MoU term will expire in 12 months (subject to renewal). The MOU may be terminated on 30 days notice\u2019 or due to an Event of Default or Force Majeure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON HREE SEPARATION TECHNOLOGY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent peer-reviewed studies<sup>1,2<\/sup> report bench-scale continuous extraction chromatography on silica-based media, achieving \u226599.9% purity for individual HREEs using mineral-acid eluents, indicating potential process and environmental advantages versus conventional bulk solvent extraction (while SX remains the current industrial standard).
